Carphone Warehouse: Training - what an amazing week!

Having left Holiday in Doni on Sunday night, something I was looking forward to immensely a couple of weeks ago, my body was feeling really nervous about this course - my training to become a Sales Consultant. I got the train to Waterloo and then on to Wembley Park tube. The walk to the Hotel Ibis, where I would be residing for the next 5 nights, was dramatic as I passed the new Wembley Stadium and Arena. I was dripping in sweat partly because I was carrying a really heavy bag, and partly because I was nervous as hell. I really didn't know what to expect. The hotel bar was packed with what I thought were CPW guys and gals but didn't really pay much attention. I got my room card, on the 10th floor in 1003. I was now shitting myself wondering if I would have an annoying or smelly roomate. But open the door and then was a normal looking Nick! What a safe guy! Knew I would get on with him! So we sat and chatted, played a bit of DS (he had one too!) Mario Kart and went to sleep.

Waking up at 06:45 is really not good but it had to be done, showered etc and went down to brekkie. Was a continental one so not great but it filled a hole I don't usually fill in the morning! Both me and Nick talked to this bloke called Tzuri and his roomate, seemed good guys. So the bus came to take us to the course. Our Trainer would be Lee and we were all split up into two classes. Nick and Tzuri were in my class which was cool. We sat round a table with some other people - Fox from Derby, Kate from Newport, Bob from Cheltenham and Hayley from Cambridge. The days course was good but at times a tad boring. Bob and I couldn't stop laughing at this Russian girl in our class who couldn't speak properly when she read out or asked a question, then everyone else cottoned on and started laughing like Rich! Lunch was comprised of sandwiches etc. We finished at 1730 and went back to the hotel. Me and Nick played a bit of DS and then went down to the bar. We had a drink then went to Wetherspoons and had a beer and a burger for dinner. Had a couple more beers there chatting to every1 and then came back to the bar. Was a right laugh and chatted to Kate and Hayley for ages, I eventually wentup to bed very drunk!

Tuesday was ok, bit boring as we were learning about insurance. We did do a mystery shop in Brent Cross Shopping Centre, I went into Virgin Mobile and The Link with Rich. Was a laugh. After training we all went back to the hotel, Nick and I went to KFC for dinner then back to the hotel for a bit of revision, but we mostly ended up drinking! LOL, I went up to bed feeling once again, tipsy!

I couldn't wait for Wednesday to be over. Firstly we had the insurance test which you needed to pass or you would lose your job, then we had this really boring data talk that lasted for aaaages! I was of course looking forward to the Charlton match vs Man Utd which was wicked! I left the course and got a bus and then the tube to Waterloo where I met Chris. We went to The Valley to see us lose 3-0, was shit but I played the drum with James which was good. After, me and Chris went up to London, met up with Matt and then had a drink. I got on the tube back to Wembley where Nick and Hayley waited for me, Kate, Dan and George were all revising when we got back to the hotel so I joined them for a bit. Tired and drenched in sweat and rain from the football, I retired to my room for the night.

Test 2 out of 3 awaited us when we got off the bus at the Denmark Hill training Centre. I was really nervous about this one! It was the written paper. I thought I had done really crap in it, and wasn't expecting a good mark. We got the FSA insurance papers back, I had got 17 1/2 out of 20. Dead chuffed, another that I thought I had failed. For the rest of the day, we did our roleplays. These were really nerve wracking as we had to do them in front of the class! Half way through we heard loads of cheering from next doors class, so sarcastically we shouted and cheered back. Then they did it back. Bob then said (as a joke) we should go and open the door to their class and scream. So we crept out of our classroom, out to their door, opened it and screamed, the look on their faces!!! But as we were continuing our roleplays, they did the same, I shat myself, and they threw paper balls at us. Was proper funny! The day ended, we went back to the hotel, but I didn't with the rest of the guys and gals on the bus, I went with Rich in his modded car, the sound was amazing - engine and music pumped up! Its a modded clio. All of the CPW employees found it well funny wen we went past the bus stop! His alarm keys mean he can start his lights, engine and unlock the car with 1 click - how cool! People were looking at us driving down the street! When everyone got back, me and Nick played DS for an hour, packed our bags, and then we went downstairs and went to Spoons with Kate, Hayley and Dan. It was curry night, something which Kate had looked forward to all week! LOL! I had a curry I think was a Jalfrezi! Which was actually rather nice! All 5 of us went back to the hotel, via and offy so me and Dan could get some beer, and went up to Hayley and Kates room to watch Armageddon. It was a really good movie and the girls cried lol! There was annoying break for the news in the middle so me, Dan and Kate went down for a fag! After the movie finished, we went to the lobby and did a bit of revision. We were all feeling a bit low as this was our last night! The girls went to bed, me and Dan stayed down until 2am lol! Was good.

So our final breakfast - croissant, bread, ham and chicken washed down with orange juice - happened after check out. We had to dump our bags in a room on the 7th floor. We got on our final coach journey to the training center, did a little bit more revision and sat the 3rd -and final- test, which was a multiple choice paper. I thought I did alright and completed it quite quickly. After the test we had to wait around a bit until the loss prevention lecturer arrived and we then had 90 mins of more talking! We basically did nothing else after this, I put Kiss 100 on the protjectore PC at the front which was good to listen to for a while! Then the head trainer came in and showed us some funny videos. Lee called each person in one by one to let them know their course marks! I was so nervous, but eventually I was in, and I had passed with 87%. So happy - I got 15/20 for the written and 47/60 for the multiple choice. :D And that was it, Lee said goodbye and we got back on the coach, in quite a subdued atmosphere. We got to the hotel and my crew - Dan, Nick, Kate and Hayley all had a drink. And then Hayley and Nick left - it was hard holding emotions away. Then the cab for me and Kate to take us to the Tube station arrived. It was really hard saying goodbye to everyone, I shed a few tears in the cab as we pulled away, was embarrased to do so, but I had a fucking wicked week. Looked as if Dan was too when we were pulling away. We got on the tube, had a good chat and I went up to Paddington Station concourse with her and saw her on her train. An emotional goodbye, a hug and thats it, all over. I made my way to Waterloo on the tube and then on a train on what was a very emotional train ride home. I had such a wicked week, one of the best of my life and I will miss everyone and every minute!
