After the successful but wet trip to the Media Careers Day in Cardiff back in March, I was invited to Red Dragon FM for a Media Placement Day, a day which I would learn a lot about what Red Dragon does in South Wales.

An early start, 05:10am early, to catch a train at 06:10am to Reading then another to Cardiff surprisingly went really quickly! Before I knew it we were pulling into Cardiff Central station which was good and I was greeted with gleaming sunshine, excellent! The Number 8 Bus to Mermaid Quay was the one to wait for and it dropped me right outside the 'Red Dragon Centre' home of Red Dragon FM.

Already waiting there were other students there for the day. We got led up to one of the boardrooms by Jemma, the station Co-Ordinator. She introduced what we would do during the day. All the norms were done like introductions which I hate. We were then introduced to Pete from the Full Welsh Breakfast. Its such a small world, he used to work at Mercury FM! Quality.

The first talk was given by Mel, also of the Full Welsh Breakfast. She talked to us about what should be said on the air etc etc. She made us write out our own talk after a record after showing us an example. After that she had a Red Dragon mic and said she wanted someone to read theirs out. No one said anything so I just stuck my hand up. Going with the Bassline theme (from Media Studies at college) I read as best as I could, into the mic, and the reaction was a round of applause from everyone and Mel saying "That was fucking excellent!". I felt dead chuffed! I also won a DVD of 2 and a half men as I was the best out of all three that were done! Wicked!

More talks happened throughout the day and I have to say, there was a lot of good looking ladies that work there! God im such a perv!

The station tour was interesting and I also chatted to Pete more about him working at Mercury and living down South! He knows all the local haunts so it was great to chat to a guy from the same area. As I said, small world!

On the Lunch break, Pete wanted me and a couple others to do a vox pop for the breakfast show tomorrow about Alien Sightings! Quite funny as he asked me to say that 'I was riding my bike and I saw a meteor with footprints by it'. Probably sounded crap but it will be on the air Thursday 6th during breakfast! Arrrgh! Had to do a Tim Lovejoy when he went to shake my hand! (move your hand up to your nose when he goes to shake it) He found it funny!

It was all over and a great day at Red Dragon. A top guy I met there called Marcus and we went to Spoons by the station before I got the train! Had three very cheap pints, 1 carling 2 Brains S.A (Welse Ale) and I left very tipsy!

What a wicked day, I love Cardiff!

What a weekend!

Well sad its over, but I've had a great weekend, one I have been looking forward to for ages. Saturday night I went to see Bob Sinclar at Turnmills in London with Adam, which was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. On Sunday I went to Upton Park to see Charlton take on West Ham which ended 0-0. Met up with my mates and had drinks in spoons before and after the match. Then I came home, very tired, to watch Wrestlemania with Graham. That was so good and a great PPV. Then I woke up on Monday very tired and bored!

I had ordered tickets for me and Adam to this event at Turnmills London at least a month ago. The Love Generation man is one of my favourite DJ's at the moment, just ask any of my friends, so obviously I was really looking forward to the night! I met Adam at Cobham station and we made our way back to his in the car to get changed. We uploaded the Clubmix 2006 CD to his iPod to get us psyched up! Driving up to London was mega cool especially in the dark. Admiring the cheeky, the cars and the views. Talking about cars we saw this Porsche with the numberplate P66che and some young bloke looking with a stereotypical bird in the passenger seat. He obviously knew we were admiring his car so he put his thumbs up to us and the cheeky waved. Possibly he was a footballer but it was a bloody nice car!
Anyways, Adam wanted to show me his casino - Gala - in Bayswater. We went into KFC first and the Gula Gang were in there taking the piss outta us. If it had been in Guildford we would have smacked them. After this we made our way to the casino. I signed up as a memeber which was pretty cool and everyone treated us nicely. Lots of rich businessmen in there. Adam won £20 on Blackjack which was good!
We chilled there for a bit and then made our way to Turnmills in the City. After crap traffic we got there around 2230 and went into a trendy bar called match. I do mean trendy! No alcopops and the only lager was a really nice one called Proof.
Then we went to another bar which was really shit and they were doing karioke! So we drunk up quickly then left for Turnmills. It really is a cool place, it must be in a building's cellars as lots of rooms with a medievial theme!
Room two was where we stayed the most apart from checking out Martin Solveig a couple of times and then left room two for room one the main event Bob Sinclar! Couple of cheeky dances in both rooms, especially in the main room with a Spanish girl! The burds were amazing, music was great but he didn't play Love Generation, well at least while we were there (he finished at 6 we left at 3). It is a great club and night, I will definately be going back!
